Kalamunda Christian School (KCS) may have just tipped the enrolment scales at 200 students this week, but the recent performance of ‘The Jungle Book’ at the Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre (KPAC) demonstrated the world-class potential of some of SCEA’s youngest performers on the theatrical stage.
The performance involved students from years 2 through to 6, with the school musical production basing this year’s performance on the classic tale penned by Rudyard Kipling. The production ran for two nights on the 19th and 20th of September 2024 to a great turnout of parents, grandparents and enthusiastic patrons from the local community.
A quick glance over the social media comments on the night displayed the audience’s appreciation for the performers:
“It was utterly amazing! The kids and I loved it! Great job everyone!”
“A fantastic performance by everyone!”
Behind the scenes, Mrs Kate Rimmer (Year 5 teacher) continued her legacy of creating amazing stage shows with the students, with support from a number of key staff from KCS.
Volunteer parents and staff members dedicated several weekends to help with the set and prop design.
Mrs Rimmer shared a heartfelt message: “It’s days like this that remind me that I belong to the best school in the whole world! The production team put out a call for helpers last week, totally understanding that weekends are busy and most people wouldn’t be able to help, yet we turned up this morning to a multitude of volunteers! I love our KCS community!”
Just down the highway in Middle Swan, SCC (Swan Christian College) recently showcased its creativity with the production of ‘With Good Measure, There’s a Little More’.
The play was a rendition of the ‘Snow White’ story performed by the school’s very own drama production company, Fenceline Theatre.
In other exciting news, NCGS (Northshore Christian Grammar School) first-ever production is already in progress (they will be performing Madagascar) and is scheduled to be premiered in Term 2 of 2025.
We look forward to NCGS Principal Mr Stuart Chisholm playing the lead role in this inaugural production.
