The first meeting of the ‘Primary Christian Living Working Group’ took place last week in the new Beechboro Christian School (BCS) Library.
This group is made up of selected Christian Living teachers across SCEA schools and seeks to combine content and teaching methods of Christian Living from across our schools in order to effectively engage students with the gospel message.
Dr. Gregg Weaver (Chief Education Officer – SCEA) led the session focused on idea generation, discussion, resource sharing, and developing new frameworks.
The session also included a guest speaker, Mr Dougal Steven, currently the School Program Director at CRUWest who enlivened the group with his understanding of gospel-centred teaching. Mr Steven is a former primary school teacher and a previous coordinator of Christian Living at St. Stephen’s School.
He shared valuable insights from his work in bringing Christian Living and the gospel to life within a missional school context.
It was inspiring to see teachers and leaders from various SCEA schools come together with a shared vision and a strong commitment to fostering a deeper spiritual impact on students.
The atmosphere was filled with a sense of unity and purpose as participants actively engaged in meaningful discussions about how to make Christian Living classes more impactful and relevant.
