‘Catch Of The Week’ begins soon with Phishing emails to be sent out by SCEA’s ICT Department

Longtime SCEA staffers will be familiar with the concept of ‘scam emails’ and ‘phishing’ – and now our ICT Department in the SCEA Head Office will be sending out ‘fake’ emails to see if we can spot their scamming attempts before the real ‘bad guys’ steal all of our data!

Starting next week, the ICT Department will test our knowledge of ‘scam emails’ and ‘phishing’ by creating fake emails and trying to lure you into clicking on something dubious in that email.

As always, be vigilant with your emails and only respond to emails from people you know and trust. There are also times when scam emails can come from ‘friends’ and ‘acquaintances’ who have had their accounts hacked or duplicated in some way.

If you click on something suspicious created by the SCEA ICT Department, you may be sent a training video on navigating these issues when they arise.
Forrester Research estimates that 80% of cyber breaches in 2024 involved compromised staff credentials.

Keep an eye on SCEA News in future issues, where our trusty ICT ‘phisherman’, Mr Long Nguyen, will provide regular handy hints for staying safe from scammers and fake emailers.

Don’t worry!

Unlike most fishermen, he will not be bragging about his ‘Catch Of The Week’!

But his phishing line will always be in the water!
