What’s that? You can’t hear your line manager telling you how well you are doing?
Never fear – your telephone system is being upgraded!
As you would have heard in Graeme’s video today, there is more than four million dollars worth of infrastructure improvements set to begin rolling out in the next school holidays – including new telephones, new servers and new wireless points to ensure that connectivity between our schools and the SCEA Head Office is at optimum levels for our staff across SCEA.
The full ICT infrastructure refresh is being funded through accumulated savings generated across SCEA in recent years.
Just last week, the contract was signed with tech company Cisco, which has now shipped a large number of the new telephones to the SCEA warehouse for deployment in the school holidays.
This contract, negotiated by Mr Nick Wood (Chief Operating Officer – SCEA), demonstrates a significant shift for SCEA’s ICT practices, with a process of regular and carefully planned replacements set to occur across SCEA schools and the SCEA Head Office.

No longer shall we have toy phones in our reception areas!
The only exception to this will be ‘Captain Kalamunda’, the dutiful mascot at Kalamunda Christian School who is still waiting for the call from Principal Mr Craig Hunter to allow him to stand down from his post as Captain of the school and allow the wonderful Administrator Mrs Deidre Chamberlain to answer the phones on a real telephone!

During the Easter break, the ICT specialists will be in at KCS, sorting all of the phone systems, with Mr Wayne Fewster (Head of ICT – SCEA) making a presentation to the SCEA Board just last week on the rollout process across all SCEA sites in the coming weeks.
“The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and SCEA Board are committed to the initiative and look forward to seeing the positive impact this will have across our organisation,” said Dr Graeme Cross (Chief Executive Officer – SCEA) this week.
“This is another great example of the benefits of being part of a multi-school organisation (MSO), because our scale provides opportunities to engage with suppliers and negotiate far more favourable terms than schools operating in isolation.”
Below is a photo of the Cisco team meeting with SCEA representatives to discuss the details of the contract that will vastly improve the communications system across SCEA.
