With the pandemic limiting international travel and in-person mission trips, initiatives have begun across schools that seek to bridge the gap between young people in different countries.
One such venture is the ‘Uthando Doll Project’ currently being undertaken at Swan Christian College.
Students, under the guidance of staffer Ms Joanna Waldon, have begun sewing dolls for young people living in poverty in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.
The dolls are given to young people in this community to help them grieve the loss of a family member or friend.
Recently, students and parents have gathered in the Textiles Room at Swan Christian College on Wednesday afternoons to sew dolls that will be shipped to Africa for the children to enjoy.
