Obituary: Mrs Marie Baird

With a heavy heart, we share the passing of our beloved colleague and friend, Mrs Marie Baird.

Marie was an Educational Assistant (EA) in the Early Learning Centre of Beechboro Christian School (BCS) since 2015. Marie had been on extended leave for the past couple of years due to her cancer diagnosis.

Marie was a bright, beautiful, deeply caring woman with an incredible heart for others and God. Her faith was the rock on which she built her life, and it is of great comfort and hope to us all that this sustained her throughout her illness.

Mrs Leanne Britton, an Education Assistant and Administration Assistant at BCS, remembers Marie as a warm and bubbly presence at the Bennett Springs campus:

“Marie was such a godly role model to all. She would always have a smile and want to know how you were going, despite being in pain herself. Marie had such a strong faith and care for others.  She loved her job and loved working with the children at BCS. She was a lovely, selfless woman of God.”

Longtime BCS staffer and librarian Mrs Helen Lakstins also remembers Marie as a wonderful staff member:

“Marie was a life learner. She gave 100% to her job and truly had a heart for the children.  She was fantastic as a class Educational Assistant but equally great working one-to-one with a child.  She identified any learning gaps that a student might have and found a way to break that learning barrier.  Marie’s faith was deep and sincere.  She loved her family and wanted to grow the Christian faith in her own girls. Despite her deep, ongoing, dreadful pain, Marie always thought of others and prayed for others.  She trusted God through this very difficult time.”

A celebration of Marie’s life was held in North Perth with family, colleagues and friends.

We ask that you continue to uphold Marie’s family in your prayers as they grieve at this time.
